down this road

there is an airstream
2 surfboards

and a lady in red

she was sweeping...
"too much sand!" she cried.
i asked to take her photograph
because she just looked so perfect
against the surreal desert
baja landscape.

i wish i knew her name.

tell me her story....

what is that hut? an oasis?
can passers-by stop and have a siesta
in one of the hammocks?

she is wonderful!
i want to call her loretta.
and behind her is her boyfriend, bob!

woah i wish she lived in the middle of that sandy place sweeping all day, getting nowhere
but it has wheels

must have been nice to stumble upon them

she left everything behind
to hang out with him
for the rest of her life
everything except for one red dress
he promised her she would never have to
wear shoes ever again

I think she is a real-life cousin to the woman played by Catherine Keener in the movie Into the Wild. The movie isn't brilliant, but the cinematography often is, and Catherine Keener always is. I think if you watch this movie, you may find her. Again. Good luck finding her again, good luck finding more entrancing images.

She travels light, lives light, and seems really happy. I should be so lucky.

You can tell they surf a lot, look at the surf knots on their feet. She has bumps on the top of her feet from knee paddling, and he has a big bump on the instep of his left foot (most likely a goofy footer). I could be wrong, but that's what caught my eye...

She is indeed perfect against that landscape. What a perfect moment you caught. She reminds me of a pin-up girl from the 50's in a surfer lifestyle setting.

Ah, this is a land I could live in. And I've always lusted just a bit after an airstream. The Organpipe National Park is an old and dear friend of mine. Whoever she is, I hope she is enjoying her life to the fullest extent.
