This is a great photo. Earrings are such a huge part of my life. My ears were pierced when I was a few months old. My parents are from Haiti and my dad would never let me leave the house without earrings. Not wearing earrings was like not wearing shoes. To this day I feel naked without them.

i think i saw that image already in
"the sartorialist"... haha!.. joke.
to carry objects with your lobes would not be according to the light spirit of your posts,i agree.
all piercing and tattooing, eating meat, drinking spirits and/or belonging to a righteous color biker club would make our existence so overweighty with all the wrong meaning and direction.

Neither do i. We weren't allowed to until we were 13, and after 13 I was never at the mall with my Mom (so she could give permission to the boutique). And after 18 I decided to invest in what I really love--people.

according to the article that went with this photo, some women wore (wear?) straps around their heads to support the weight of the earrings.

Not much leaves me speechless. This did (in a good way, of course).
