as a child, i would run
through the corridors of
15th century paintings

and open doors to rooms only
story books could attempt
to illustrate

20 years later, i came back
to vaccarile for luisa's wedding.
it was the mother of all weddings.

luisa wore gold lanvin.

with 500 people in her 1000 AD
childhood home, lusia had to
keep it dramatic.

i'll never forget it.

the weekend was
one big fellini movie.
earthquake and all

!!! gold lanvin and earthquakes--all weddings should aspire to this.

this is one of the most beautiful posts of all...

"the end of all our sorrow
will be to arrive where we started
and know the place for the first time"

i can't remember who said that.
thank you for these transatlantic
thoughts and images...just lovely.

The perfect way to experience Italy is to stay in convents. You can stay in rooms like these.

Orvieto, I shall not forget...

i look up to see you suffer through
my inclusion in your trip's itinerary. it will be me scheduling time to weep at the feet of madonnas or to sit idly while fun-seeking italos bask in the sun of long stretches of beach. my dreams are filled with life and vice-versa; you are hardly the worse for wear.
