culture

by Juan Ignacio Maralejo:

“Having said that, most of my friends and I have an austere
ideology, maybe a recurrent longing for nature and a simple lifestyle.
Not exactly hippie-ism, but being aware of the advantages of limitations.
It’s well known that you get a bit more creative when you have to struggle more
...I prefer the vulnerability of trying to do something honest.”

Really timely and intriguing. I keep reading about the "slow culture" movement everywhere applied to every facet of living--slow fashion, slow food.

I could market a product called "slow blackberry," and it would be a tiny dayplanner that said on each page, "Things to do soon."

I agree!!! I just left my job and am selling my house..time to downsize and get back to basics...my friends and I have been talking about the same thing.

The universe is pushing us in that direction...recession smession I say bring it on!

I have suffered the 2001 crisis and others before, as an Argentinian I am very used to crisis.
I do believe that having less you have to be more creative.
I write about deco and fashion in my blog, I love to see beautiful homes but I do not need having everything I see. What I need more is contact with nature, so the 2001 crisis came with an insecurity situation, kidnaps, robberies, every week a family member or a friend was robbed or suffered a express kidnapping, that was the worst part because we can not use public space and we live with fear, at that moments I used to think -Well, at least we ¡are not in Irak.
About having to shop less and cut other things I did not care, I was to used to economy ups and downs.
