and now I'm going to perform

I once met a girl
who joined the
circus at 14.

she moved to
paris and studied
under the last great
fire-eater in the world.

fact or fiction?

I'm fascinated
by the bizarre, freakish acts
of those who still gulp fire, juggle knives
...and walk on thin white ropes for
the thrill of spectacle.

in praise of the
surreal, beautiful
fantastic, grotesque
bigger-than-life
feats that collide
with reality.
